Current positions:

Senior Platform Engineer

Burner is empowering people to take control over their primary channel of communication – the phone number. As Platform Engineer, you will be a key member of a team building the next generation of mobile privacy tools. You will work closely with the mobile and product teams to architect new features and build out fast, scalable backend services.

Our team members are encouraged to embrace new technologies/frameworks and find the best tool for every problem. We are currently making use of Scala, functional programming, and TDD to develop new services. 



  • Build fast, scalable features on the server side to support the Burner mobile app ­

  • Work closely with the mobile engineers and product owners to move quickly on new projects ­

  • Maintain and improve existing infrastructure, and be willing to jump in when things break


  • At least 5 years experience working with JVM languages ­

  • At least 2 years experience working with Scala ­

  • Experience with Postgres and Redis ­

  • Experience designing highly responsive REST APIs ­

  • Experience building microservices and distributed systems ­


Growth Manager, Mobile

The Manager of Marketing & Growth will be responsible for building and leading a center of excellence around user engagement, and retention, as well as leading development of the tools, infrastructure, measurement and insights to support it end to end.

This is a new role and will be a mission-critical part of the team that manages the growth and optimization functions for one of the top-grossing apps in the Apple and Google app stores and will work closely with stakeholders across business, product, design, marketing and technical teams.

This role will report directly to the Chief Revenue Officer and will have a significant impact on revenue and growth metrics for the category-leading Burner app, representing an opportunity for qualified and passionate candidate looking to build a practice from the ground up or level up from a more specialized role.

The successful candidate must have a strong background in mobile.


  • Overall responsibility of the strategy for growth and engagement, from inception to execution, including measurement and reporting

  • Develop insights and lead ideation, evaluation and implementation of a queue of a/b tests and other optimizations across acquisition channels, product elements, and communications touchpoints that drive improvements in user activation, engagement, retention, and conversion metrics

  • Measure and iterate user engagement, behavior, and conversion in funnels using tools like Google Analytics, MixPanel, and Adjust.  Serve as a “key customer” and help guide specifications for instrumentation, tagging, and other analytics implementation elements

  • 3rd-party tool sourcing, evaluation, and selection

  • Develop and communicate metrics and reports to a wide range of stakeholders including the Board

  • Assess personnel and agency needs to grow and support robust, scalable channels

  • Work closely with senior leadership team to close communication loop on competitive and market trends in your channels

  • Track and own KPIs around this role’s goals of growth and conversion
